Merchant Bar Quality is a steel term that refers to a lower quality type of carbon steel, where surface condition is not as critical. Metalcorp’s Merchant Bar Quality bars are produced to specific sizes to be used in structural applications involving bending, forming, punching and welding. Angles are a 90 degree angle bar. Angles come in two coating finishes; black, which is a mill finish and galvanised, which is an inline galvanised product. Common uses include bed frames, box trailers, high voltage power poles and many more applications.
Black angles can be supplied from 20mm x 20mm through to 200mm x 200mm and thicknesses of 3mm through to 26mm. Galvanised (DuraGal®) angles can be supplied from 30mm x 30mm through to 90mm x 90mm and thicknesses of 2.5mm through to 8mm.
Flat steel bar available in two finishes black and a range of galvanised sizes. Common uses of the product are steel balustrades, connector plates and purlin cleats.
Black flats can be supplied in a range of 20mm x 3mm, through to 300mm x 25mm. Some sizes are slit from plate. Extra small flats are in a range from 10mm x 3mm through to 16mm x 5mm and are only available in 4 metre lengths. Galvanised (DuraGal®) flats can be supplied in a range of 50mm x 4mm through to 150mm x 8mm.
Square bar is a solid steel bar. The most common applications of this product can be seen in security doors and windows as well as other ornate architectural and balustrade applications. Sizes available from Metalcorp Steel range from 10mm x 10mm through to 25mm x 25mm. Other sizes include 40mm x 40mm which is supplied in AS 1442-1040 and in 6.7 m lengths.
Round bar is a circular solid steel section. It can be used in many and varied applications such as tent pins, earth stakes, axles etc. Sizes available from Metalcorp Steel range from 6mm through to 100mm in diameter.
